Entry Requirements:
Project must be completed by an ASLA Fellow, ASLA Full Member, or ASLA Associate Member; or eligible to join ASLA in one of those categories.

For Students Submitting in the Student Work Category - the entrant must either be a current student attending an accredited program or a recent graduate of an accredited program submitting a project located in Kentucky and completed within the last calendar year.
The Communications category is open to non-professionals, but the official entrant must be (or join as) an ASLA Affiliate, Associate, Full, or International member. ASLA Affiliate Members are not eligible to enter the General Design, Residential Design or Analysis & Planning.

Fee: Upon receipt on December 12th, 2024 – ASLA Kentucky Treasurer will invoice, via paypal, for the award submittal(s). Failure to pay by January 5, 2024 will result in a submission null and void.

Project Statement:
Describe the project and why it’s award-worthy. This statement may be used in promotional materials if the project is selected for an award. (175 words or less)
Project Narrative:
In 1,000 words, in bulleted or list format provide the following key information about your submission: Please submit in a single PDF.
NOTE: WORD documents and other word processing formats will not be accepted.
Explain the purpose of the project, including its requirements, scope, philosophy and intent. Also include a statement of the project’s specific significance to the discipline of Landscape Architecture.
Clearly define and explain the role of the entrant and other significant participants, including owner/client and collaborators without revealing the identities of any of the parties except the owner/client.
Explain the local and regional significance of the project. Why is it unique or special? What unusual problems were solved?
Describe how the project meets the specific judging criteria for the appropriate submittal category.
Assume that the jurors are entirely unfamiliar with the project and its merits. Successful submissions must clearly convey their specific qualities and attributes through a coordinated text and graphic presentation. It is important to illustrate how the issues raised in the written documentation were resolved in the final project. It is up to you to make a clean case for the project’s award-worthy qualities.
Project Images:
Graphics - A maximum of 16 images may be submitted with each entry having no less than 5 images uploaded. Project images must include a (1) site plan (Communications is exempt from this requirement). Additional imagery may include photographs, diagrams, sections, and renderings. Compile project images into a single PDF file not to exceed 15MB and 16 pages. Image files should be formatted as: 1900 pixels wide by 927 pixels tall and a minimum of 72 dpi. Brief caption of no more than 40 words is to be placed at the bottom of each page (Font: Arial, size 14 points). We highly recommend using just one image per page with a simple caption. Label the PDF file with the project title (do not label using your name).
Winners will be required to submit the original image for each photograph or drawing submitted.
***Planning & Analysis / Communications Categories:
***We will not be requesting hard copies for our Planning and Analysis or Communications categories this year. Please submit your PDF document hardcopies via email in addition to the already required -Project Statement in pdf format, project Narrative in pdf format, project Images in pdf format. Please export low-res versions of you PDF documents. If for any reason you need to send a second, separated email to incorporate the full document be sure to mention that in the body of your submittal email. Thank you.
Release:
By submitting your application, I certify that I have read the background information related to the 2022 ASLA KY Design Awards Program and I certify that I have completed this submission in compliance with it. I understand all winning entries become the property of ASLA KY and all submissions not received by the submittal deadline will not be eligible for consideration. Winning entries may be used by ASLA KY for public relations purposes. I take full responsibility for proper release of any photographs from their respective photographers and for the accuracy of the project information provided, holding ASLA KY and its publishers harmless.
*Entrants are responsible for clearing photographs with photographers for publication and reproduction by ASLA KY. ASLA KY will provide proper photography and other project credits when using photos, but will not assume responsibility for any copyrights or photography fees. ASLA KY retains the right to publish photos submitted in winning entries in our digital newsletter, on the ASLA KY website, in promoting the awards program, and in other products in conjunction with promoting landscape architecture.
I further take full responsibility that I have Client authorization to submit this project.
Jury:
The Jury will be comprised of an out-of-state group that represent the breadth of the profession, including private, public, institutional, and academic practice, and exemplify diversity in professional experience, geography, gender, and ethnicity. The jury awards will be by majority vote and not by full consensus. The jury process is blind, the identities of the entrant and creative team are not revealed to the jury.
Members of the professional awards jury, as well as the firms, organizations, agencies, or employers they represent, are not eligible to enter the professional awards program. ASLA Kentucky retains the right to disqualify any entry that does not meet the program requirements or that presents a conflict of interest.
